Living with actions and in truth.

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
(1 John 3:18)
The words we say have great influence, but the things we DO are even more powerful! Throughout my entire marriage, my husband has told me that he loves me every single day, sometimes multiple times throughout the day! By repeatedly hearing his words, I might believe him but because his actions are consistent with his words I KNOW it’s true. In fact, I believe him so much that I TRUST that his love is true! I am secure in my relationship and commitment because his actions have proven (and continues to prove) that his words are true.
Christ following brothers and sisters, I think this passage is SO important in the way we live our lives before man, but it is also SO very important in the way we live our lives for CHRIST! To be a light in this very dark world, it is SO important for our words and actions…OUR LIVES…to be consistent with Jesus’ teaching and example portrayed in the Bible. It’s how we demonstrate our love to our Savior! This fabulous record of love, faith, forgiveness, peace, truth, faithfulness and surrender, inspired and directed by God himself, is constantly at risk of being tainted and spoiled by human sin. But Jesus’ story of redemption and eternal security is still so relevant and desperately needed today!!
Today I ask you to take a moment and reflect on where you are in life today. Are your words and actions in alignment with each other? What about your life’s testimony for Jesus? Are your words and actions consistent with what the Bible teaches? Are you living a life worthy of the calling of discipleship of Jesus?
Ask for forgiveness where you fall short. Pray for God to impart a passion to reach the lost through your words, but more importantly, proven by your actions. Ask him to renew your spiritual fervor and strengthen your resolve for Godliness. Recommit yourself to living the Gospel message in word and deed.
The Holy Spirit is poking at my heart, convicting me as I pray this morning. I am assured that He is ready to mold and transform soft and pliable hearts!
