For our wedding anniversary earlier this year my wife and I were treated to an exclusive dinner. Our young niece and nephew spent the week with us and they decided to turn our basement into a restaurant for one night. They worked hard and decorated with readily available materials. There were candles and music playing softly. We were even given menus with very limited options. The kids had us dress up and they did all the cooking and serving. Understandably the cuisine was not on par with a four star restaurant. However, the ambience was nothing short of magical.
It had been some time since my wife and I could enjoy an actual date. Proverbs 15:17 came to mind as we ate dinner; A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate. Somehow the food tasted better that evening than many other previous meals. That exclusive dinner will be a lasting fond memory.
Take time to enjoy a meal with a friend, spouse, or loved one. Focus on the other person and enjoy time together. Everybody eats so why not make a memory while enjoying some food and fellowship.
